Lada Class Submarine - The Amur-class submarine (named after the Amur River), is one of the latest Russian submarine designs. Advertised as the export version of the Lada class, it is a modernized version of the Kilo class submarine with improved acoustic stealth, new combat systems and the option of air-indepdt propulsion (AIP).
As advertised, the Amur-1650 is large and intended for long trips. The Amur-950 is equipped with a VLS missile system capable of firing at several pre-determined targets. The sonar signatures of these submarines are several times lower than the older Kilo-class submarines.

Both of these designs are equipped with the latest generation electronic warfare weapons created on the basis of the latest science and technology. AIP fuel cells can be installed, greatly improving endurance and dive range. AIP power can be added to the hull extension socket during new construction, or as a retrofit to existing boats.

The builder said that these vessels can operate in all areas of the world, except areas with heavy snow, in all weather conditions and in shallow and deep water.
The chief designer of Rubin CTral Design Bureau for Amur-1650 and -950 is Yuri Kormilitsyn. Further developing the ideas already used in the Kilo-class submarines, the Amur-class ships are single-hull, with a small displacement, allowing for low noise and improved propulsion quality. A new permanent magnet main gear is being developed/constructed and is expected to provide higher power conversion at lower cruise speeds.
At the Army-2022 forum, another project - the Amur e600 - showed an all-electric submarine without a sail. The project reportedly included a submarine with lithium-based battery technology that would provide a life of 17 days. It was unclear whether the project would continue with construction.
No boats of this class have yet been built. Russia offered the submarines for sale to India, but in 2005, India ordered Scorpène-class submarines instead. On 4 July 2013, Rosoboronexport announced that it will offer the Amur 1650 to the Moroccan Navy if they announce the Tder for new submarines.
Will Russia's Sub Building Boom Matter?
In 2021 there were talks between Russia and Argentina regarding the production of the Amur 1650 by Tandanor as part of a major arms deal. The Project 677 Lada Class electric submarines are being built by the Admiralty Shipyard of the Russian Navy. The class is also called the Petersburg class after the lead submarine. The Lada Class is the successor to the Kilo Class submarines.
The keel of the class-leading submarine, Sankt-Petersburg (B-585), was laid down in December 1997 and launched in October 2004. The submarine was commissioned into the Russian Navy in April 2010 and commissioned in May 2010.
The keel of the second submarine, Kronshtadt (B-586), was laid in July 2005 and the launch ceremony took place in September 2018.
The keel-laying ceremony of the third submarine, known as Sevastopol (B-587), was held in November 2006. The submarine was renamed Velikie Luki and repaired in February 2015 due to reconfiguration after repeated delays. Velikie Luki is expected to be commissioned in 2021.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and the Admiralty fleet signed a contract for two more submarines of the project 677 Lada in June 2019. The laying of the keel of the submarines is expected to take place in 2022, while the deployment is planned for 2025 and 2025, respectively. 2027.
The Project 677 submarine is an upgraded version of the Project 636 Kilo Class with smoother, more powerful propulsion and new combat systems. Fourth generation submarines can be deployed in anti-submarine warfare (ASW) and anti-surface warfare (AsuW) operations, defense of naval bases, investigation and surveillance operations.
An export variant of the Lada Class, the Project 1650 Amur Class, is designed for markets such as India and China. The Amur class is offered in various configurations with displacements from 550t to 1,850t and various weapon systems.
The Lada-class diesel submarines are designed by the Russian Rubin Design Bureau. The ship features a single-hull design. The displacement has been reduced to 1,765t from the 2,300t of the two-wheeled Kilo Class submarine.
New Submarines Will Transform Poland's Navy
The full speed of the dive was increased from 19 to 21 thousand, and the number of workers was reduced from 52 to 35.
The submarine has a shortened profile equipped with sophisticated torpedo and missile systems. The hull is covered with a new anti-sonar coating for a low acoustic signature.
The Lada Class uses hydrogen-oxygen fuel cells, generating electricity for low-noise operation. The submarine is equipped with the Litiy automated combat control system. The integrated system controls the submarine's combat and technical systems.
The Lada Class has a top speed of 10k and a dive speed of 21k. The propulsion system provides an underwater cruising range of 7,500 nmi at an economical speed of 3k. The maximum diving depth is 300 meters. The underwater displacement of the boat is 2,700 t.
Russian Navy Nuclear And Diesel Electric Submarine Plans In 2021
The Lada Class is armed with submarine-launched missiles introduced under the Club-S. The missile can be launched from standard torpedo tubes.
The Club-S carries warheads weighing up to 400 kg and can hit land and sea targets within a range of 300 km. Six 533mm torpedo tubes can fire 18 torpedoes, anti-submarine and anti-ship missiles.
Lada Class submarines are equipped with modern sonar equipment such as bow, side arrays and towed sonar. Lira's sonar system with a quasi-conformal antenna (attached to the submarine's hull) can detect low-noise targets located at long distances.
The ship has an inertial navigation system for safe navigation and determination of navigation parameters. The system ensures the accuracy of mounted weapons by providing guidance during extended underwater operations. Countermeasures are provided by electronic support measures (ESM) system, radar warning receiver and direction finder.

The submarine's propulsion system includes two diesel generators, a large electric traction motor, two independent air systems (AIP) and one shaft driving a seven-bladed propeller.
The AIP system based on oxygen/hydrogen fuel cells increases the submersion endurance of the Lada Class from 15 to 45 days. It also reduces noise as it does not require constant charging of batteries in diesel generators.
A short-run diesel engine in snorkeling mode increases the stability of the submarine. The submarine also has a long-life battery.
. If the redesigned Project 677 is successful, the Lada class will replace the Soviet-era Kilo class as the backbone of Russia's conventional submarine capability - and open the door to further export markets down the line.
This Russian Sub Is Called The 'black Hole' For One Terrifying Reason
"It is difficult to underestimate the importance of this event," Admiralty Shipyards CEO Alexander Buzakov said at the launch, according to state news agency TASS. "The construction of the submarine began in 2005. There have been several breaks in the construction work and financing, but the launch date has finally arrived. The delay in the construction work allowed the use of knowledge gained in the construction and operation of the St. Petersburg submarine. By all means, this ship- "Alligator surpasses its predecessor, Project 636. We are convinced that the future of the Russian Navy's non-nuclear forces must be anchored in Project 677. There will be a great series."
Russian President Vladimir Putin mentioned the new Project 677 as one of the highlights of Russia's current State Armaments Program-2027 during a meeting of the Kremlin's Military and Industrial Commission on September 19. "We have started the implementation of our current program - it will continue until 2027 - this year. This program takes into account the current international trends in the development of weapons and combat equipment and the information obtained from the use of Russian weapons in the Syrian Arab Republic," said Putin. "Thanks to this program, our forces should receive new equipment, advanced weapons with better combat characteristics than those of other countries. This includes a missile system of the Sarmat, the Su-57 fifth-generation fighter, the reinforced tank based on the Armata combat platform, the S-500 air defense system and the Project 677 submarine.
While Putin praised the Lada-class system, the Project 677 program did not provide Russia with an air-independent propulsion (AIP) system as originally envisioned. Even late last year, it was believed that Russia would build a new Kalina class submarine to replace the failed Lada class.
"Lada three-class submarines began, but after difficulties with the AIP plant only the lead unit,

, completed in 2010—using conventional diesel power. He is now in the Northern Fleet," wrote Center for Naval Analyzes research scientist Michael Kofman in the journal Proceedings of the US Naval Institute. "The two unfinished Lada-class submarines are scheduled for completion in 2018 and 2019, but the class as a whole has failed. It is not clear what Russia will do next
Sister ships have just been completed. Hopes for an AIP submarine now rest on the Kalina class, a new design likely to use AIP, about which little is known publicly.”
However, the Russians seem to have changed and are continuing to build more Lada fleets. Buzakov noted that the Russian Ministry of Defense is expected to order
