Double Stack 2011 - You can definitely load a 1911 double stack without it breaking...or at least breaking a lot. Unfortunately, there aren't many of them at rock bottom prices, and you probably don't want them anyway.
Admittedly, in most cases, they are not really secret friends. Famous examples are not friendly to your wallet either. STI pistols—while incredibly beautiful and incredibly well made—will set you back $3,000 or more. Competition racing rifles from other brands... well, there's no way you're going to get in the door for less than $2,000.

However, this style of gun has some quirks as a competition or home defense pistol, retaining the excellent ergonomics of the 1911 without sacrificing low capacity.

Except... the pattern is catching on a bit more. There are a growing number of examples to choose from for more reasonable amounts. Be warned though...they still aren't exactly cheap, as the weapons on this list aren't cheap.
If you want a dual-purpose 1911 with minimal investment, the Rock Island Armory GI Standard FS HC is the ticket. MSRP is $608, which means street prices will be closer to $550 or less. However, what you save in money, you leave in equity.
This is a bare rifle, with a Parkerized finish, GI style thumb safety, GI style sight, and GI style grip safety. Polymer grips and gun delivery with one (1) 10 round magazine, 14 round magazine available for purchase from RIA. It is made in Boga caliber, .45 ACP.
This is a GI pistol that has a lot going for it. Granted, Rock Island Armory makes solid, reliable rifles for the working class, so they'll fall out. You can leave it as is or hot rod it if you want; It all depends on you. The good news is that it's based on the Mercury/Caspian frame, the design...cases aren't hard to find.
Staccato 2011 C2 9mm Gun: Is This Pistol Really Worth $2,000?
One of several new rifles that Rock River Arms had for Shot Show 2020 is the Rock River Arms 3G-11. If you want something more or less like a 2011, but don't want to spend that much, this is a quality option that's really affordable...but not cheap.
For those unfamiliar, Rock River Arms makes their 1911 pistols the old school way. They make hand custom double 1911 pistols. In terms of how they build their guns as well as price, they are more or less in the same league as Dan Wesson as opposed to Sig Sauer, Springfield Armory or Colt.
The 3G-11, which may be renamed at some point, is a fully competition pistol, with a 2011-style stainless steel slide and frame. If you want bells and whistles, get them. Front and rear slide serrations, Novak-style sights, Ambi safety levers, upgraded beavertail safety with memory notch, skeletonized trigger and hammer, and extended mag wheel for fast reloading.
This thing is designed to send a lot of benches instead of concealed carry, so know what you're getting yourself into. The final price isn't available yet, but after talking to my man Steve at the Shot Show booth...I'm guessing around $1,500. Again, it's not cheap, but the build quality alone is worth the price of entry.

Another double 1911 that won't break the bank is the Rock Island Armory Tech Ultra FS HC. It's a complete meal, with many of the features people love about the 2011 model pistol, without the scary price tag.
MSRP is a very reasonable $906, which means about $800 on the road.
For that you get a Parkerized finish, G10 grip, beavertail grip with memory, Novak-style sights (black rear, fiber optic front), Ambi competition thumb safety, and your choice of .45 ACP (14 Get + 1). capacity) or 9 mm, which makes the capacity 17+1.
If you want to do some hunting, another good example of a double action 1911 for a decent sticker price is the Remington R1 Recon Commander. Expect around $1000, maybe as low as $900.

For those who don't know, Remington bought and absorbed Para USA to manufacture the 1911 pistol. The Remington Recon is the only Para Recon model with "Remington" on the slide.
So what does it give? It's a double Commander, in .45 ACP or 9mm that gives you 15+1 or 18+1 capacity. The finish is black PVD on stainless steel. The frame also features competition-style ambi safety levers, a beavertail grip safety with a memory notch, and the addition of an ejection port. Added hammer and trigger to reduce weight. The sights are Novak style and the frame is rail mounted if you want to add accessories, and G10 grips have been added with 25 LPI checkering on the front and back of the grips.
Why would you? The Remington 1911 pistol has excellent build quality and excellent triggers, but because it says "Remington" instead of "Colt," people ignore it. And that's just stupid. If you can find it, it would be a good choice. And since it is for all intents and purposes Black Ops 14.45 Commander, that means it fits all Black Ops 14.45 Commander holsters.
What is the biggest difference between a 1911 pistol and a 2011 pistol? The main difference between the 1911 and the 2011 is that the 1911 is the older design, while the 2011 is the newest design.
Springfield Goes 2011(tm)
The 1911 pistol was designed over 100 years ago, and although it is still used by some military and law enforcement units, it has been superseded by newer designs. The 2011 pistol is a very current design and has features that make it more reliable and easier to use than the 1911. The 2011 also has a more ergonomic design, making it easier to hold and shoot. It also has a built-in rail system, which allows you to attach a lamp or other accessories.

Which 2011 doesn't have manual steering? The last paragraph in your article says "One big difference is that the 1911 uses a manual safety, while the 2011 does not." Every one I've seen has a standard 1911 thumb active safety, most are ambi.
About 20 years ago I came across a used double stock SA.45 1911 and paid about $450 for it. I still have it, although I don't shoot it much, now I have S.A. We went with a 1911 compact in 9mm (age (daily carry)).

I have a RIA model #51679 (TAC ULTRA FS HC) 9mm 17 round pistol, and I can't find a vertical shoulder holster that would save my life. Double stack is a problem, I don't think anything is found at the moment. Maybe try one of the links below or search?
